Taking part in ROSE

Information for patients

We have worked closely with patients and members of the public to develop the study, including choosing the questionnaires and deciding how many times patients will complete them. We will continue to work with patients and members of the public during the study, for example asking them what information should be included in participant study information leaflets.

How to join the study

If you are a patient who meets the following eligibility criteria, and are being treated at one of the hospitals listed in the ROSE Study Research Sites page, you may be able to take part. A member of your local care team will be able to confirm your eligibility and advise you of the next steps.

Inclusion criteria
i. Adults aged ≥18 years
ii. Referred by the hospital multidisciplinary healthcare team for elective oesophagectomy (oesophageal resection) or total/subtotal gastrectomy (gastric resection) for OG cancer

Exclusion criteria
i. Planned discharge NOT back to their home
ii. No access to a personal email account
iii. No access to a computer/mobile device or internet at their usual place of residence
iv. Unwilling to use electronic information tool/electronic questionnaire system or participate in research
v. Unable to provide documented informed consent
vi. Insufficient understanding of English to complete questionnaires
vii. Participating in other research that would interfere with participation in this study
